Alan Finger
Alan Finger was born in South Africa. By the age of 15 he was studying yoga intensely with his father, who was introduced to yoga years earlier in the United States by Yogananda. Finger was further exposed to Yogis such as Venkatesananda, Swami Nishraisananda, the Tantric Master Bharati, and B.K.S. Iyengar. Alan and his father started to develop their own system of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda (ISTHA), which they taught in South Africa.
Alan came to the United States in the mid 1970’s and opened the “Yoga Tantra Institute” in Los Angeles. In 1993 he moved to New York, where he opened “Yoga Zone,” which was later renamed “Be Yoga” and sold to “Yoga Works”. In 2008, he opened the ISHTA yoga studio in New York City.
